As per the Telephia?s Total Communications Survey for Q2 2006,
Vonage occupies number 1 spot in the VOIP market share with nearly 54%, closely followed by Verizon VoiceWing and AT&T with a 5.5% share each.
SunRocket followed with a 4% share, while Lingo had a 2.6% share. NetZero Voice rounded out the top five with a 2.5% share.
Vonage was able to capture such a large market share mainly due to their aggressive advertising.
But more than 12% of all VOIP subscribers are likely to leave their current VOIP service provider for another supplier within a year.
Rankings for the top pure-play VOIP providers are based on subscription services, and exclude free or pay-per-call VOIP services, according to San Francisco-based Telephia.
I will continue to follow what is happening in this area.
