Are there any risks of using VOIP? I am wondering if maybe it would be possible for someone to hack onto your line and maybe write down your credit card numbers when you are giving them over the phone to someone? Just a thought.

I would think that this would be near impossible to do so I wouldn't let that keep you away from getting a VOIP service as the risk is almost non-existant.

I also would not put much thought into what could go wrong like the example that you gave because it like the other poster said is nearly impossible for someone to hack your broadband VOIP line.

Okay now that is just a wacky idea. I guess the best way to protect yourself though is to think of everything. I agree with the other posters though and think that this would not pose a threat.

Even I do not think of it as a security threat. If that is the case, VOIP would not have become as popular as it is now.

The technology is getting sharp and more advanced. Certainly there won't be any room for security concern.

Thank you all for the information. I am think that I am ready to finally commit to getting VOIP service. I am alway worried about anything new not being safe, that is one of my major flaws.
